Give Back Project :))

My Motto:

“Watering plants today so they can bloom tomorrow 🌱💦 → 🌻.”

This motto fits perfectly with my Giveback Project, because volunteering with Let’s Talk Science felt exactly like planting small seeds of curiosity and confidence in young students. And I’ve always believed that you learn more by teaching someone, which is why this experience mattered so much to me.

For my Giveback Project, I reflected on my experience volunteering with Let’s Talk Science at TRU. It made me feel connected, useful, and part of something beyond lectures and labs.

Through hands-on STEM activities in local schools and community programs, I worked with kids who came from different backgrounds, energy levels, and learning styles. Some days were loud, some experiments had a mind of their own, and some students asked questions that made me laugh – but every session reminded me why I love science and why I want to share it with others.

I learned how to explain concepts in a way that made sense to everyone, from beginners to kids who were already future scientists. I also learned to adapt my communication depending on age, cultural context, and comfort level. This is where global competency naturally came in: being patient, being observant, and making sure every student felt included, supported, and excited to learn.

Working with kids from different backgrounds taught me how to communicate clearly, adapt my approach, and be mindful of different learning styles and cultural contexts. This is where global competency naturally grew for me: creating a space where every student felt safe to ask questions, stay curious, and feel included.

In the end, this project wasn’t just volunteering. It helped me grow as a learner, a communicator, and a member of the community. It showed me how small moments of encouragement, clarity, and kindness can help someone else bloom — and how teaching others helps me grow too.

Because when you help someone learn, you end up learning even more. 🌱➡️🌻
